Poem:
So, poetry is not much my strength
but wilderness, with it's untamed length
-now that's my thing-
Wilderness releases, calms and rebuilds me.
Nothing quite like sitting in a tree :)
I'm from a small town and love to laugh
History is my major, just keep me away from math.
I chose this class because it sounded like me,
It will be fun, and not hard, hopefully.
Reflection:
I thought this was an interesting way to start off the class. Throw a curve ball as we had all gotten used to just listening to the professor talk about the syllabus. In poem form I'm not sure how spiritual and intellectual I could have gotten without sounding corny. I thought a while about what to write and say about my relationship with nature and it was something I had a hard time putting in words... so I settled with a cute sing-song poem instead. No need to be intensely spirtual the first day of class anyway. This did carry on in my thoughts as I read "Landscapes of the Sacred" though. I find myself relating my own thoughts and feelings to a lot of what the author is saying. This gives me high hopes for the semester. blah! that was long.. done :)
