Mystic Landscapes: The Mountain that was God - Tara Thompson
In this chapter, Lane talks about the experience he had at Mount Rainier. He went out simply wanting to see the mountain range, however instead, he experienced a spiritual journey in a matter of minutes. He explains that he was in awe of the beauty that the mountain possessed and hated the fact that he had to leave. So he decided to leave his blessing, realizing there was nothing else he could leave behind. Lane continues on to compare mountains, such as mount rainier, to mountains as humans need to experience within. Mountains are used as metaphors through out scripture and they are a common used term in every culture. They represent more than a piece of land. Mountains are extreme points in our life, that we have to climb, get over, and learn from. A mountain in your life could be the death of a loved one, or even a marriage. Despite the mountains you face in life though, be open to discovering them and climbing them. It is something every human needs to live out.
