outside reading 2- Erin Comerford

The main book that I do most of my outside reading is in the Bible. I have never really been a big reader growing up so the only time I really sit down and read when it is not something assigned for a class is if I am reading the Bible. Most recently I have been looking at the fruits of the spirit. I believe that God has created each and every one of us for our own specific purpose and one way that we see that in each other is through the fruits of the spirit. God is the vine and we are His branches. The branches are the part of a tree that produce fruits, but the only way those branches can produce fruits is because of the attachment to the source of nutrient that come from the trunk and the roots, which is God. Our source of nourishment is in God, and with that as our source, we can produce many fruits. Those fruits that God has given to us to produce and to share with others are the gifts of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control. I love that God has given these to us because they are real and tangible things that can be seen when they are shared and the real thing that shines through these acts is to source - God. This in one reason why I love to be out in nature a lot, but I can see a physical representation of the relationship that I and all of the other Christians have with our God. It shows that out God is a god who literally provides for us through the fruits of the spirit.
