David writes in Psalms 33:8-9, “Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spoke, and it came to be. He commanded, and it stood firm.” This is why I have sacred experiences in nature. Through devotion times and times of solitude, the outside world shows me less than a blink of God’s infinite power and love, a mix of awe, reverence, fear, and worship. This is where feelings of experiencing the sublime and the picturesque come from to me.
