Roland Chandler: Outside Readings: Dhammapada

A selection I read from the Dhammapada reads, “Knowing this body is like foam, fully awake to its mirage-like nature.” This is something nature teaches me. When I assess beauty in the natural world, I realize how long the world has been around and how infinitely small I am in comparison with the creation of this planet. It shows me that there is more to the world than simple displays of beauty and good feelings, but creation and life and death. I am trying to learn to live this way, realizing that I only have a brief time on this planet in this skin.
