Landscapes of the Sacred - William Pfeiffer

Belden Lane has four axioms he describes in his book that help to guide us in our search for sacred place. The first states, “sacred place is not chosen, it chooses.” In other words, people cannot choose that which is sacred. The best they can do is to be able to recognize it. Sacred place can reveal itself at any time and in any fashion that it chooses, whether it be “seeing the light” or just a feeling of comfort that presents itself to the person.
