For me, nothing is as beautiful in this world than a sunset over water. One day this fall, I went out to the water to watch the sunset and pray. As I did this, a heron flew into the water and stayed there throughout the evening, right in front of me in the shallow, shining red water. Fresh off of contemplation upon the Holy Spirit, I experienced the sacred this night in the form of recognizing the heron as a representation of the Holy Spirit, who is with me when life is beautiful as well as when it is dark.
