Daniel DeWyngaert - Belden Lane's Fourth Axiom
This the fourth and final blog in relation to explaining the ideas behind Belden Lane's four axioms. The four axioms are a philosophical idea presented in his book Landscapes of the Sacred. The idea behind these axioms is that they are utilized to help people better understand the connection between landscapes and human spirituality. The fourth axiom is stated as "the impulse of sacred a place is both centripetal and centrifugal, local and universal." This I believe means that a sacred place exists on the physical plane and the mental plane. On the Earth and within the person who recognizes that certain place as a sacred place. I also think it means that different people can recognize a place as sacred for different reasons. Not all experiences are meant to be the same for each person, however the end result is still generally the same. This however brings an interesting thought that I will discuss in a later blog.
