Daniel DeWyngaert - Free Post 1

I am using this free post to talk about a thought I had when discussing Belden Lane's four axioms. The four axioms are written in his book Landscapes of the Sacred, and are used to help better explain the connection between human spirituality and these specific landscapes that are recognized as sacred. I felt it interesting that it is possible to say through these axioms that these places that are seen as sacred may have existed as long as the Earth. These sacred places are only recognized by people never created. Also, they don't have to be recognized in the same way, so the place may have changed over time, but it may still be considered very important to people. Also I found it interesting the subjectivity of these landscapes and how there can be such a wide variety of locations of these places. For instance, a sacred place could be a glorious spot near the ocean. It could also for some people be the bar down the street. As long as it gives off the feeling of being sacred and allowing a person to be at peace that is what is important.
