My family and I took went camping a few weeks ago. Excited to put into practice what I've learned in ULLC, I was excited for the challenge. "Challenge" is an appropriate word for the trip, as I have not slept in a tent since I was...well...15. My dad, in charge of the planning, chose Crabtree Falls, located in Nelson County, right off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The fact that my father intentionally picked out this locale for us to conquer together added to my excitement for the trip. The first night we experienced communitas at our campsite. By the end of the night, we knew all ofour neighbors' life stories and stayed up extremely late playing cards utilizing just one flashlight. The next day we hiked the actual falls --- the highest vertical-drop cascading waterfall East of the Mississippi River! We hiked roughly 14 miles total. Needless to say, we were exhausted by the end. However, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience in flow. Absorbed in Western Virginia's marvels, I had flowing water to my left and bright foliage to my right. I couldn't imagine better time spent with my loved ones.
