Austin Davis Local

The impulse of sacred place is both centripetal and centrifugal, local and universal. As discussed within the text there is "none of them are able to guarantee the presence of the holy" shows how the holiness of a place can change over time, an individual may be drawn back to a place previously held as sacred yet they may arrive at the place to revisit the experience the ritualistic feeling. Several times I have revisited a place in the wilderness which I previously held as sacred to find that in some way the sacredness of the place has changed. This concept shows how "god is never confined to a single locale" along with how our interpretations of sacred place can drive us to unique journeys.
