James Joseph: Personal Choice (2)

I have decided to reflect upon Lane's fourth axiom for the topic of one of my personal choices. This final axiom states "The impulse of sacred place is both centripetal and centrifugal, local and universal". It is usually the hardest to understand, not just because it's use of larger and more complex words, but also because the idea is somewhat contradicting. How can something both pull and push one away from a place? I find it easiest to understand and fully grasp this last guiding axiom by looking at in this way: we are drawn back and forth from sacred place, moving from one spot to the next, each time finding God in new and different ways. I feel like this axiom is the one that best works in today's world, for it is very common that people will move from one place to the other. Given most would consider the reason for moving as something more related to job positions, family or friends. Yet isn't it true that if a place is really important to a person, that they wouldn't move from there no matter the circumstances? While we all make conscience and logical decisions in our life, it is the sacred that really moves and guides us through our lives.
