Jeff Sellazzo- importance of the ocean to life

Many people do not see how important the ocean is to keeping the Earth hospitable for life. The ocean helps to regulate the temperature and CO2 levels in the atmosphere. It regulates the temperature by taking heat from the air and warming the water. The water then moves being replaced by cold water that takes the heat again from the air in a cycle. This heat is either dissipated in the deeper waters or transported to another area where it is used to heat the air to regulate the temperature. It also removes CO2 in the air and converts it into carbonic acid. Thus, leaving the atmosphere with a little less of the toxic gas in it. The ocean is essential to human life and at some point it will eventually not be able to keep up with the changes induced by humans and the atmosphere will become inhospitable.
