Morgan Creekmore- Pilgrimage
Turner said that sinners will have a harder pilgrimage when he was discussing the churches using pilgrimages to purge sinners. We discussed trying to find God in nature and I think we do this by purging many things, not just sin. We purge our rank and our Ego, everything that we think makes us who we are when we enter the trail. We do this because we can't connect with nature or God when our Ego is interfering; we can't learn any deeper meaning about ourselves if we are clinging onto an old identity. This is why there's trail names, it signifies our dedication to the journey and our shedding of our past life while making the pilgrimage. Once we relinquish these things, we can accept the place and the spirituality of the place.
