Pilgrimage from Turner- Amber Matkowski

One goes on a pilgrimage when they are not content with there current situation. A pilgrimage is a journey to search for spiritual enlightenment. Pilgrimage can take many different forms, however going into the unknown wilderness has become one of the most common choices in current times. Wilderness creates an environment unfamiliar to it's traveler. The expansiveness of the wilderness is a reminder to humans just how small and unimportant they are compared to the rest of the world. Wilderness is overwhelming and difficult to survive in without proper knowledge. By challenging oneself, one questions who they are and why they have been put on this earth. Through the journey, one generally will have an awakening experience that will help them identify what their purpose in life truly is. During pilgrimages, one does not know what they are searching for, but when they find it, they are very aware. The journey of pilgrimage can take anywhere from just a fews days to a few years and can take place in just ones hometown or it can take them around the world. If deciding to go on a pilgrimage, one must understand the time commitment, physical strain, and emotional rollercoast that the journey will take them through.
