Eye on the prize- Samantha Anderson
When I am truly focused nothing can stop me. My eye is on the prize and I know what I want. Really it is the “flow” going through my body. Flow is described by Turner as, “the holistic sensation present when we act with total involvement, a state in which action follows action according to an internal logic, with no apparent need for conscious intervention on our part.” Sometime I find when I am driving that I will go through 3 or 4 lights and not even remember doing so, but yet I turned on my blinker, merged, and came to a complete stop. My body was in a state of flow. I unconsciously knew what I needed to do, and was able to perform the tasks needed. It was a state of such concentration that I didn’t even notice anything else. I wish I knew how to make my body go into this state more often. Imagine how much more productive a person could be if they were able to place themselves in a state of flow and be supper focused on one area of work.
