What’s behind the mask?- Samantha Anderson
Lane talks about how a mask both identifies a character and hides an identity. This idea is so simple, but yet when we were asked what the purpose of a mask in class, we all over thought it. Why is that? Has education put a mask on how we see things? It shows us a character that we must be insightful and deep, but behind the educational mask is simple ideas and foundations. Furthermore, when we look at a landscape, are we looking at the front of the mask, or the identity behind it? How do we know which is which? We could think that we are looking at the identity when really it’s the mask. I feel like the mask is present when find it insignificant. Once we decide a place to be sacred that is when we give the identity behind the mask a face.
