Jacqueline Thornley: Natural Experience
In October I was responsible for planning my fraternity’s Fall Retreat. Since we’re all college kids without a dime to spare between us, I decided that a nice little camping trip would be the cheapest route to go. We stayed in a local park, not 15 minutes down the road. We only stayed for one night but even in that one night it was amazing how much of a transformation we were able to make. There’s just something about nature that brings people together I believe. Even though we were just a few minutes down the road we all felt so removed from society. Around the campfire everyone put their guard down and groups that had had issues with one another previously just melted together to form one cohesive unit. It was really an interesting sight to see and I truly believe that connectedness would never have happened if it hadn’t been for the power of nature.
