Jeff Sellazzo- lane's axioms defining the AT as sacred

In the WIlderness as Axis Mundi essay that we read it mentions the fact that the trail is considered a sacred place. This relates to Lane's four axioms to sacred place. I can see all of the axioms pertaining to the AT, which makes sense because they describe sacred place. The first axiom pertains because the AT was just a trail that some people created and the people that travel it make it sacred. The second axiom is relevant because all of the hikers have rituals they perform on the trail that supports their reverence of the place. The third axiom relates to the AT in quite a literal sense. Many people walk on the trail and not all of them feel the sacredness of the place. The fourth axiom is part of the AT because people hike the trail and remember the feeling they had on the trail, and if they see forest again many will remember the bond they had with the trail. This fact brings many people to return to the trail.
