Power - Wynn Prusaczyk

In history I learned about how an absolute ruler will lead to a violent revolution in post-westernized societies. When communication is limited it makes sense to have one power who sends out his rulings to the country; democracy in a pre-westernized place is very difficult to pull off. It would make sense to have a single ruler if people of the country were mostly self-sufficient and did not have the means to transport themselves from city to city. When networks are created people can begin to see how much they have an effect on the world around them. In the more modern societies, people are less likely to believe that as long as their single ruler has a divine right from god everything will run smoothly. If rulers are more willing to share power they will be able to hold onto it for a little longer. But if people are unhappy they will always be forced out; no one can hold on to power when their country is against them.
