New York - Stephen Mason
Last summer I went on a trip with my family to New York City. I really enjoyed the trip but one thing that I noticed was the large amounts of people that would be staring up at the tall skyscrapers especially in Time Square. Even though they looked like complete tourists, they seemed to be incredibly amazed by the sheer height and size of the buildings. After taking this class I feel like what these people were experiencing when looking up at these building was an incredible sense of the sublime. Just the simple act of staring up at these building can truly put you in the perspective of being very small in the world no less then the feeling of staring up at a tall mountain stretching into the sky. Many of these buildings can truly embody amazing beauty but at the same time lead one to feel the fear associated with the sublime.
