Personal Reflection: Fall Break - Mary Ragan

Over Fall break I experienced very contrasting places that I have never spent much time in. First I went to Orange, VA because my cousin was getting married and her husband is from there. This town is very small and has much open space. I feel like I have never seen so many cows in one field or so little street lights in one area, considering there are I think a total of three in the entire town. While this area is more rural I live in more of a suburban neighborhood that is quite large and in close proximity to many things, with not very much open space and not so many hills like in Orange. The wedding was at a very pretty plantation. We ended up staying in Fredericksberg at a nice hotel which was fun. It was great to be with all of my family. I had never been to to Fredericksberg before and was in awe of the shopping places. . . so commercialized. I had a lot of fun at the wedding, especially dancing with my mom and sisters and just having a good time spending time with family. I then went back to Baltimore with my sister to spend a couple days with her before returning to school. Baltimore, an urban location is in great contrast to Orange, a rural location. There is always noise and commotion and movement and people. We walked around the city a lot and were around the Inner Harbor which is a nice location in Baltimore. I had so much fun hanging out with my sister. Quality time seems to get more important as we get older. But it is interesting to think of how different these places are. They all have such different characteristics that make them up and that greatly affect the way people live their lives and develop. My sister lived in Philadelphia before Baltimore and so is used to living in the city. I am not very used to this but do enjoy while I'm there. I am also nor used to a place like Orange that is so rural. I feel like I am kind of used to the in between as this is what I was brought up in. But Fall Break was a great time to relax and be with family.
