Virginia Creeper - Wynn Prusaczyk

When walking on the Noland Trail, Professor Redick showed up this plant called Virginia Creeper. He described this as a leech which attaches itself to other surrounding plants. Not only is the name off-putting but I’ve always had a particular dislike of things that leech. I remember one time I had a tick on me and I couldn’t stop crying even after I got it off because I was so freaked out just by the idea of what it does. Its whole purpose in life is to get its nutrients by attaching itself to another thing and sucking them out. It’s the same idea as when I give blood. I don’t have any particular problem with needles but if it is just sitting in my arm not serving any purpose I start to get nervous. A leech just sits on or in your body, it never does any good. Tapeworms, ticks, Virginia Creeper, it’s all the same thing.
