Thank you - Wynn Prusaczyk
To this day my family has an aloe plant sitting in our window at home. Whenever me or my sister would get a burn my mom would always take a part of the plant off to soothe it, but she always made us thank the plant. As a little kid I never saw anything strange about it but when I started to get older I began to think it was a little weird. Why would I thank a plant? It can’t hear me. But the habit had already taken form so whenever I took a part of the plant off I would feel weird if I didn’t thank it. Being in this class is making me think that maybe it’s not such a strange idea to thank a plant for giving a part of itself to help you; after all they were here first. Humans take so much from wildlife with no consideration for how it feels. I’m not saying I believe that plants have thoughts but it’s a nice idea to just remember that you have to appreciate all it is doing for you, because I know I’m probably not doing too much for it.
