Arrenvy Bilinski- Outside reading: Bridges to Prosperity Newsletter
I recently have been receiving a newsletter each month from the organization, Bridges to Prosperity, which builds bridges for under developed countries that are in need of resources just out of reach of their village. There was an article in the newsletter from a girl who spent an internship with Bridges to Prosperity over the summer in Zambia. She describes the extreme “exoticness of the Mozambique people across the river, and how Zambia wreaks of “true Africa” complete with “painted mud huts to rocky landscapes, baobab trees, and cerebral malaria.” This intern, Zoe, realized after a couple of days before leaving that she was so busy with administrative business that she wasn’t being a part of the change going on around her. After finally seeing the reaction to the final bridge on the faces of these Africans, she began to see the impact she was having on the landscape. Sometimes being caught up in schoolwork, I often neglect my connection to friends and place. In times like that, it becomes time to abandon computer and create memorable spiritual experiences with friends, rather than be glued to the computer.
