Axioms 2 - Wynn Prusaczyk
Lane’s third axiom is that one can be in a sacred place and yet not be there at the same time; they are physically present but not mentally there. Entering a temple as a Christian will have a completely different experience than that of someone who is Jewish. An example I like is you enter into a hospital as a patient versus when you enter it as a visitor. Entering as a visitor may be an exciting time, maybe someone is going to visit a newborn baby, but the same person may enter it a week later as a patient and see the same hospital as a scary foreboding place. The idea is that if your mind is not open to seeing the sacred place you won’t get to experience it. It makes me think about how you always have to keep your mind open otherwise you may miss out on experiencing someplace truly beautiful.
