Holy Man - Wynn Prusaczyk

In Lane’s book, there was a story about a holy man who passed a poor man who had his feet propped up on a holy phallus. Seeing this, the holy man got extremely angry and yelled at the man to take his feet off. The poor man took his feet off, and where he put his feet next, another phallus popped up. He kept doing this until the holy man understood that it was not the place itself that was inherently sacred, the holy cannot be contained. To me this means that even if a place gets destroyed, the sacredness of the place cannot be. It’s a hopeful outlook because it means that the sacred can happen anywhere at any time because even though it is about the place, it’s not really that important where it is, because it could be anywhere. Which means that you still have to keep your eyes open because sacred could happen anywhere.
