The first day of class this semester we were prompted to write a poem about our idea of wilderness and why we took the course. This is the poem I wrote:
My name is Hilary
Wilderness is open and free
When I think of it I think of a tree
I chose this class because its where I want to be,
and it sounded interesting to me
Remembering this day and how little I knew about the course when I wrote the poem makes me realize how much I have learned throughout the semester. I had no clue what wilderness as a sacred landscape meant or what the class would entail, but now just looking at the title of the class brings forth a great deal of knowledge I have gained.
