Nolan Trail 1- Amber Matkowski

When I got there I sat down by the river. It is huge and seems to go on forever. The current flows, with quick boats riding along with it. The bridge in the distance looks lonely, as only two cars drive past. I stand up from the edge of the water and turn around. On the other side of the road is a lake. Calm, quiet, patient, and serious. The lake is stable. The river is wild. The lake knows where it lays, while the river still searches for its limits. The act that the river draws my attention first is no accident. I wanted to be a lake, but my mind has become the river. I'm drawn to it because I want to be moving, flowing, free. I want change, new things, new experiences. This place can represent many different things. But for me, it is clear. The lake is the past and the river is my future. It never slows to let you get a grasp of it. It just keeps flowing and you must trust it to take you where you wish to go.
