Route 66- Meghan Herrity
Route 66 is the interstate that originally ran from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California, before ending at Los Angeles, covering a total of 2,448 miles (3,940 km). This road brought life to the small town that it ran through. Many popular songs have also been created and covered by numerous artists describing the road and what it gave people in that time. One song describes that Route 66 gave people a sense of freedom and a way of escaping to the new and exciting west. In this way Route 66, can be considered a place of meaning. For every person this road may mean something different, but for the people of the 30's and 40's it was a place of great meaning a freedom.
