For my paper, I wrote about the city of Mecca, and why the Islamic world calls it their sacred place. This was a great chance for me to learn about another religion, and particular one that I have not spent the time to learn about. I decided to write this paper because I felt like it related to the course because of its pilgrimages, the idea of it being in the center of the world, and because it is a place where Muslims go to connect with others. Once the pilgrims complete the Hajji, the sacred pilgrimage, they are accepted into the city of Mecca, and is where they pray along side other Muslims. I really enjoyed writing this paper, because I learned so much about what Muslims have to do for their religion. The Hajji is just one of five pillars of Islam, that all Muslims have to accomplish before they die. They also have to pray five times a day towards Mecca, which is why it is the center of their religious world. This paper was a joy to write, and I am very happy that I decided to write it on Mecca.
