Tragedy of the Commons - Wynn Prusaczyk

In Leadership class were talking about how environmental sustainability is in demand for up and coming leaders. They have this idea about the tragedy of the commons. To explain this; it’s like when countries go fishing in international waters in order to take all they can at one time so they have the majority of supplies. This means that the country will be in control for the time being but taking so many supplies may prevent the fish, for example, from reproducing meaning that there won’t be anything for future generations. The tragedy is that countries are only harming themselves. They think that they are helping themselves but it is only for a limited time. As soon as they run out of the supplies there will be nothing left to take. People need to think in the long term, they need to think that the environment is sacred and understand that it won’t be around forever if they continue to hoard.
